| 50 Series - Single Sided Assembly | 00 Series - Double Sided Assembly |
Originally, all Lokrings were designed to fit
within the jaws and both sides were drawn to the center stop
simultaneously.
This worked well for small fittings where it was easy to hold two tubes
and the fitting in place. A few special tools were required to complete
some assemblies. A VME pre-assembly tool
was used if an application required partial assembly of the joint prior
to finish application. An NTR insert was
required to support the underside of a Tee Connector.
Most Lokrings under 10mm (3/8") are still made in the 00 Series.
This style is used by GE Appliance and by GM with the Kentmor tool
As Lokring Connectors were being made in large sizes, it became necessary to design a fitting that could always be assembled one side at a time. The 50 Series was developed with a split ring in the middle to accommodate the jaw of the handtool.
Some benefits of the 50 Series Connectors include:
| Less resistance when closing larger joints | |
| Easier to work with one tube end at a time | |
| Sub assemblies can be made at the workbench or other convenient place | |
| No special tools are required to assemble Tee Connectors or for pre-assembly. |
